Interior and Exterior Angles in Parallel Lines

Interior anglesInterior angles are the angles lying inside the region between the two lines, which are intersected by a transversal. In the given figureangle 3,angle 4,angle 5 andangle 6 are interior angles.

Exterior angles: Exterior angles are the angles lying outside the region between the two lines, which are intersected by a transversal. In the given figureangle 1,angle 2,angle 7 andangle 8 are exterior angles.

Illustration: Find the interior and exterior angles in the following figure

Solution: In this figure, two angles i.e.angle 130^{0}; and; angle y are exterior angles as these angles lying outside the region between the two lines, which are intersected by a transversal. Also angle 1^{0}; and; angle xare interior angles as these angles lying inside the region between the two lines, which are intersected by a transversal.

Illustration: Find the interior and exterior angles in the following figure.

Solution: In this figureangle x+15^{0} is the exterior angle as this angle lies outside the region between the two lines, which are intersected by a transversal. Also angle 2y+25^{0}; and; angle 3yare interior angles as these angles lying inside the region between the two lines, which are intersected by transversal .
